Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 15, 2026. The same text the app shows under Settings → Privacy Policy.
The Bateau Group, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the foodlife app. This Privacy Policy explains what stays on your phone, the little that leaves it, and the choices you have.
What Stays On Your Phone
Your profile — name, email address, phone number, height, weight, birthday, sex, activity level, and your dietary and fitness goals — is stored on your device. So are your pantry, your meal plan, your logged meals and your history. We do not have a copy.
Photos And Messages
When you scan a receipt, a shelf or a product, or send a message in chat, that photo or message is sent to Anthropic's Claude API through our server so it can be read, and the answer comes back to your phone. Our server does not store it. Anthropic processes it to produce the answer and may retain it for a limited period to monitor for abuse, under its commercial terms, which do not permit using it to train its models.
What We Collect About Usage
Unless you turn it off, the app sends us a count of which features were used and on which day, and — when you confirm a receipt — the store it was printed at, the date printed on it, and the items and prices on it. This is tied to a random identifier created when the app is installed. It is not tied to your name, email, phone number or Apple ID, it never includes anything about your body, your photos, your messages or what you ate, and it never includes the time of day. We use it to see which features are worth keeping, to find problems, and to understand what shoppers buy. Turn it off, or delete what has already been sent, in Settings under "Your data."
Sharing Your Plan
Separately, and only if you turn it on, your meals and their macros are shared anonymously so other people can be shown ideas that worked. Settings says exactly what this covers.
Support
If you write to us, we keep your message and the address you gave us so we can reply. Any screenshots you attach are kept with it for 90 days, then deleted. The app version and phone model come with it. Your random install identifier is included only if you leave "Include diagnostics" ticked.
Subscriptions
Purchases are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details. If you request a refund, we tell Apple how much of the service you used. Nothing else is shared.
What We Never Do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Your Rights
You may access, correct, or delete your profile at any time in Settings, and export everything the app holds. "Delete everything" removes what is on your device. Turning off "Help improve foodlife" stops any further usage data and offers to delete what was already sent.
Health Information
Information about your body, your diet and your activity is sensitive. It stays on your phone, and it is never part of what is described above.
Apple Health
If you allow it, foodlife reads your weight from Apple Health so your targets follow your latest reading, and writes the meals you log to Apple Health as calories, protein, carbohydrates and fat. It reads and writes nothing else. Nothing read from Apple Health leaves your phone: it is never sent to us, never part of the usage counts above, never used for advertising, and never shared with anyone. You can change either permission at any time in the Health app under Sharing.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes within the app.
